Hi, I'm Stef!

My Story

I was born and raised in South Africa, but my family moved to Calgary, Alberta in December 2008. Feels like yesterday... oh how time flies!

I have always been a creative person. As a kid, I spent many days attending music and art classes, learning to play multiple instruments, create pottery, paint, draw, and take pictures. I've also been very athletic, and I feel like these two passions—fitness and creativity—balance me out.

I completed my bachelor's degree at ACAD (Alberta College of Art and Design), taking my creativity to the next level. I had a great time learning about photography, design, and marketing, and I knew it was the right career for me.

I was on track for a successful career in the corporate world of advertising, but just when you think you have your life figured out, it takes you by surprise and everything changes. I fell in love... twice. I found rock climbing, which swept me off my feet, and through that, I met the love of my life. Together, we envisioned a whole different life for ourselves. Within 3 months of dating, we decided to sell everything and save our money. Five months later, we traveled to Thailand, Hong Kong, and eventually Australia, where we settled for 3 years. We met amazing people, had incredible adventures, and even got a dog! Unfortunately, due to complications caused by Covid, we moved back home to Calgary and settled into our 9-5 jobs for two years, which KILLED me!

It was at that point that I decided to work hard to pursue photography full-time. Photography has been a constant throughout my life, so I knew it was the best decision I could make for myself!

My Philosophy

Life is so incredibly valuable, and it's so important to treasure every moment you can. After losing my best friend in 2013, and another in 2023, it taught me that tomorrow isn't a guarantee. I was so grateful to have so many pictures to bring memories of them back to life. This inspired me to help others capture memories, moments and feelings. Photographs tell a story and they hold a pathway to your past, and the best part is they never get old, you have them forever.
